Services

OUTBOUND

Outbound has been providing recreational activities and respite for members living at home with family in the Southern Metropolitan Region of the Department of Human Services since 2005.

Our group enjoys many benefits from attending bi monthly activities that encourage our participants to socialise with friends and staff to develop lasting relationships within a safe and fun environment.

The program is designed to allow our members to increase their independence and confidence by participating in new activities, and to supply parents with much needed weekend respite.

Outbound Activities depart from our Albert Park site at 99 Bridport St, twice a month for a varied calendar of events.

Times may vary depending on the destination but most events run for six hours.

SOCIAL CLUB

If you have Aspergers of Autism and are looking for a social outing with friendly people, the Alpha Social Club could be just what you are looking for.

Alpha offers a Social club and Girls Group specifically for adults living with Aspergers and Autism.

These clubs  are organised by a committee of members who decide on what events will be offered in the next six months.

In general there are two events a month including meals, exhibitions, shopping, sports and road trips.

Members of the Social Club choose what event they want to attend and enjoy the company of other people who understand Aspergers and Autism.

Many members develop and maintain lasting friendships with other members and enjoy regular social activities for a fulfilling and diverse life.

Alpha assists in the co-ordination and planning of the calendar but does not provide any staff or facilitators for the actual events.

Members pay their own costs and need to arrange their own transport.

TRANSITIONS

This is a special service offering one to one support for individuals with Aspergers and Autism to develop connections to their own community.

The service is designed to assist in the transition from one stage of life to another. From secondary school to further education or employment, from living in a family home to living independently, from moving from one place to another.

Life is full of changes and this service assists in making a successful transition to a new space.

Individuals are assisted to make their own plans for education, employment, sport and social activities as well as learning new skills such as managing public transport.

Then a qualified professional support worker will assist in putting the plan into action; attending education courses, introducing community activities and providing training and skills development.

This support can be provided for as short or as long a time as needed and can be purchased privately or through government funding.
