Have you ever played Pictionary? Do you know how frustrating it can be when the other players don’t get what your drawing means? What about when you don’t understand their drawing?

That’s what it is like to live with Autism day in and day out.

To learn about the fun way to raise funds and build awareness of Autism at the same time, follow this link.

With thanks to Mattel for their permission to use Pictionary to tell the story.

You can help

Ever wanted to really change lives?

Do you want to be sure that every cent of your donation goes straight to the people who will benefit most?

Donations to Alpha are dedicated only to improve facilities, buy equipment and provide opportunities for adults and adolescents with Autism and Asperger’s.

Why do we fundraise?

Alpha’s vision is to offer each individual with Autism and Asperger’s "infinite possibilities". Choices that support each person’s dreams and choices.

Each individual is unique and Alpha’s mission and purpose for being is to empower each person to achieve their dream.

Your donation will help end the cycle of isolation and ignorance that entraps most people living with Autism and Asperger’s.

Your donation will open doors to the community and profoundly change lives; for people with Autism and Asperger’s and for their families.

How do we use donations and grants?

Donations and grants are important resources that make it possible to provide exciting programs and improve the quality and type of equipment, buildings and transport needed by people with Autism and Asperger’s.

Education and training for individuals, their families and most importantly for the rest of the community are critical.

Understanding and awareness opens doors and provides opportunities for people with Autism to live full lives as valued members of the community. Not isolated, simply understood.

It is not so much to ask and it is possible.

Just imagine:

$50 will buy one hour of training that could help 10 or 20 people gain a much better understanding Autism and Asperger’s. Their understanding will help them reach out and open doors, not just for a day or a week, but perhaps for a lifetime.

$100 will provide the time and resources to prepare a word and picture chart that will make it possible for someone to tell others how they are feeling or what they want. Imagine the joy of being ‘heard’ and being able to make choices. Not just for a day or a week, but perhaps for a lifetime.

$200 will provide materials and equipment for a sensory program to help someone who is profoundly autistic to experience the world through scent and touch.

The list of possibilities is endless and your donation really counts.
