Alpha Autism’s Heatherton site operates on newly renovated and spacious grounds.
The centre has large rooms which give the opportunity to plan a wide range of recreational activities and develop personalised programs that aim to enhance skills and encourage growth in each individual.
Heatherton has a strong focus on developing appropriate communication techniques that aim to assist in communicating more effectively as well as understanding different environments and managing change.
A wide range of communication aids such as Picture Exchange Communication System, COMPIC, IPADS and sign language are utilised to assist each individual to develop and enhance their communication.
Each individual at Heatherton accesses their own chosen activities with the aim of developing social and communication skills as well as increasing independence and physical fitness.
Each individual develops the skills to enhance a range of different areas within their lives including travel training creating budgets, personal care, cooking and cleaning.
